Dear Yuletide Letter 2024

I like gen fic, solo fic, shipfic of all configurations, and smutty iddy porn all in equal measure. Above all, I want to see your unique interpretation of my requests, so please let your vision shine through and feel free to get weird with it if you like!
My DNWs for this exchange are few, and if it's not included in this list please do consider it fair game. DNWs are: Modern Setting, Modern AU, Mpreg, Omegaverse.
General Likes:
I like and welcome canon divergence or AUs that are either period-appropriate or go further back in history. (For example, I would love to receive a Medieval Fantasy AU, but would prefer not to receive anything that takes place after the 18th century or later than the scope of my requested canons.)
Some Shipping and Smutty Likes:
Regarding historical settings: I am completely fine with receiving fics that contain the portrayal of period-typical attitudes regarding sexuality, misogyny, pseudoscience and outdated mores, both internalized and societal. This includes everything from internalized homophobia to criminalized sodomy to old pseudoscience like the "four humours", etc. I would prefer not to receive fics in which modern attitudes, sensibilities, outlooks, and behaviors are imposed upon the entire cast and world (though some or even multiple characters having progressive views is realistic and great!) Leaving all of these details untouched is just fine, too.
Regarding French/multilingual works: All of my canons this Yuletide are originally in French - I'm currently learning French and while my level is not advanced, feel free to gift me fic that is fully or partially in French if your heart is set on it! Just know that I might have to rely on a translator to read some parts and I will surely miss some nuance/stylistic choices.

Lully & Molière & Louis XIV, Lully/Molière/Louis XIV - The scene where the King was fighting his illness and both Molière and Lully stayed with him through the night really got me. I wish there had been more scenes with just the three of them together. Feel free to expand on that scene, or to add others - and feel free to make it as messy and possessive or as tender and healthy as you like!
Some ideas and interests:
Émilie du Châtelet - I love their mutual intellectual respect; I love that they bickered in English and never seemed to be free of drama for long. Give me domestic Cirey fic if you like! Feel free to add Émilie's husband into the mix, and/or her other lovers Maupertuis and Saint-Lambert. Also, I'm very much open to angst about the end of her life.
Frederick the Great - Voltaire's 'coquette', so possessive over him, almost worshipful towards him until he had him in his grasp... Voltaire's spying, their falling out - whatever you like to write about for these two.
Émilie & Frederick - But, oh what a lucky woman, to possess him! Their "friendly" notes back and forth while meanwhile being obsessively possessive over Voltaire really interest me. Give me all the drama and all the toxic relationships!
None of the following are in the tagset, but I'd love to read about them nevertheless.
Voltaire's Niece, Mme Denis - Voltaire told Émilie that he was too old to make love at 46, but apparently that didn't stop him from banging his niece with ardor. Their secret union fascinates me with its seemingly tender passion and its inherent strangeness. I really wish there was more out there about the two of them! Would love to receive fic about their life together at Les Délices.
Voltaire in England - Exactly what it says on the tin. The struggles of adapting to a foreign culture and language, meeting the greats of the time...
Voltaire in Versailles; Louis XV - I love the decadence, drama, and intrigue of the Versailles court. Compared to his predecessor and and successor, I actually know the least about XV, so give me all you got - including total fiction!
Benjamin Franklin - One of my other 18th century favs! Apparently the two met near the very end of Voltaire's life and I would have given anything to be a fly on the wall during that conversation. No correspondence between them exists, but feel free to make some up!
Casanova - Casanova is another figure from the time who I find extremely fascinating, and apparently he looked up to Voltaire, met him, and eventually soured on him (lol). I would love to see something about these two (including something lewd if you feel so inclined.)
If someone isn't mentioned here, it's possible I overlooked them or I am simply unfamiliar with their history as it relates to him - that doesn't mean I don't want to read it; in fact, I'd love to! Finally, I would be delighted to read solo Voltaire fic, as long as it's Voltaire. And feel free to infodump to me in your author's notes, as well as give me recommended reading, if you like C: Some final little ideas:
Le Roi Soleil - Florence/Guirano/Ouali
This musical is such a spectacle and yet a tender portrayal of the Sun King and his loves - at least, to me it is! I'm mostly interested in reading about character thoughts and relationships between characters for this canon and all its messy beauty. As with my other requests, feel free to get really creative with it as long as at least one of my requested characters is featured!
Louis XIV - I love how this musical portrays the Sun King; it could be the medium itself or Emmanuel Moire's performance, but it just feels "tender". I'm interested in reading about his relationship with Marie Mancini at the beginning of the musical, his complicated relationship with his mother, and the way the relationship between the Sun King and Monsieur the King's Brother is portrayed here.
Monsieur, Philippe d'Orléans - His songs are such a delight in this show and so is his presence! The way his lyrics make it clear he's aware of the senseless superficiality of courtly life and yet is so embroiled in it himself that he becomes synonymous with it... I would love to read a fic about either his relationship with Louis or his courtly debauches and scandals (or, both at the same time). He's a favorite of mine because he brings the drama. Additionally, it could be interesting to read a darker take on him and the responsibilities thrust upon him then taken away from him and how he feels about his family.
Mme de Maintenon - This canon surprised me with how it portrayed Mme de Maintenon, who isn't always portrayed favorably, lol - but by the end of it, I was shipping her and Louis! How does she feel about raising the King's illegitimate children, and the way Mme de Montespan treats her?
Not nominated but I would still like to read about them nevertheless if you want to write about them:
Athénaïs/Mme de Montespan - The black mass scene really stood out to me from the show; if you want to write something about her spiraling into supernatural/horror/angst, I'd be happy to read it as long as it features one of my requested characters.
Molière - His cameo made me so happy! I'm sure he has more to say about his King and his court if you'd like to involve him.
Any other characters are fair game as well, even if I didn't mention them by name. These are just the ones that interest me in addition to my requested characters. Overall, feel free to take a liberal approach to the events of the canon/history, or to incorporate other episodes or figures from this time in the Sun King's life as you see fit. This film is incredibly beautiful - the obsession, the passion that erupts into full-blown melodrama at times, and the intense homosociality and homoeroticism running through it all. I would love to read both genfic and shipfic in equal measure for this fandom, and atypical formats/narrative devices are so very much welcomed! I ship literally everyone in every configuration here, so you can't go wrong with that, and every one of my requested characters captivates me in their own way.

Madeleine Lambert - I was completely captivated by her devotion to Lully despite the way that he treats her in the film. She was a remarkably strong and stable character despite everything, and this led to me really wanting to see her explored more, in her tribulations and her love for both Lully and Robert Cambert.
Jean-Baptiste Lully - I'm obsessed with his obsession and artistic passion, the way he seems to flourish in vice and how it all leads to his eventual descent into near-madness, psychological and interpersonal mess. I'd love to see a solo POV/character study of him as it relates to literally any of the episodes in the film.
Louis XIV - We don't see too much from his POV especially in the latter half of the film, but he was really going through it: his fraught relationship with his mother, the enormous burden of becoming king, losing his youth and his ability to dance along with it... Would love to read fic about his relationship with dance and music as it relates to the canon!
Molière: This film gave me woobie/whump Molière, especially with that Le Malade imaginaire scene at the end of his life... Maybe you want to make things better for him; maybe you want to make them angstier? (Also the rumor that he married his daughter has apparently been debunked, but the film seemed to treat it like it was true?? So??? 👀)

Lully & Louis XIV, Lully/Louis XIV - The homoeroticism is literally dripping off this film, from the earlier scene when Lully gifts the King his shoes to the uhh voyeurism scene in the tent. Lully is completely obsessive (while also being self-serving), so feel free to lean into that as hard as you would like; the film certainly didn't hesitate to do so. Maybe the King seeks out Lully in one of his moments of need or Lully takes advantage of his King's vulnerability. I would love to read messy and passionate genfic, angsty one-sided pining, mutual pining, or full-on shipfic for these two. The film doesn't show it but I think it's somehow poetic that they both ended up dying from gangrene of the leg. Feel free to write afterlife fic (and this goes for all characters and relationships).
Lully & Molière, Lully/Molière - Oh my goodness, the intense relationship between these two - I'd love to read about how it developed off-screen (professionally and/or romantically), then their falling out, Lully's betrayal and discarding of Molière... I'm really interested in their different ways of interacting with the world they find themselves trapped in and how they react to circumstances, their ambitions and goals. There's so much to go off here.

18th Century Frederician RPF
I selected Voltaire as the only character who must be featured for this fandom, but am eager to read about the others, too. I only started "getting into" him earlier this year, but I love him and his wit and his seemingly endless beef with everyone. I want to read absolutely anything about him or involving him, especially if it's through the medium of a unique narrative device. Letters, diaries, gossip, even scholarly writing - basically, if you also love Voltaire, this is your chance to go completely wild and creative, or infodump on me as hard as you would like! I would love to be surprised by anything you come up with, even if it's a totally fictional interaction with a made-up person in a made-up land. It's surely what he would have wanted.
